Insurance is available!

California law requires most state-regulated health plans and insurers to cover medically necessary behavioral health treatment — including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) — for individuals with autism or a pervasive developmental disorder. This coverage was established by Senate Bill 946 (effective July 1, 2012) and is reinforced by California's mental health parity law. Children enrolled in Medi-Cal are covered separately through the EPSDT benefit, which pays for medically necessary ABA services for eligible children.

Coverage details depend on your specific plan; some plans — such as self-funded employer plans governed by federal law — may follow different rules.
