Effective Date: July 1, 2026. This Privacy Policy replaces our prior website privacy statement.
Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc. ("ABC," "we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of visitors to our websites at www.abcreal.com and app.abcreal.com (together, the "Sites"). This Privacy Policy explains the general information we collect through the Sites, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Important — this policy does not cover your health information. Health information we create or receive in the course of providing applied behavior analysis (ABA) services ("protected health information," or "PHI") is governed by our separate Notice of Privacy Practices under HIPAA and California law, not by this policy. If anything here appears to conflict with the Notice of Privacy Practices regarding PHI, the Notice of Privacy Practices controls. You can read it at www.abcreal.com/notice-of-privacy-practices.
Information We Collect
Information collected automatically. As with most websites, our hosting providers and servers automatically record certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring and exit pages, and the date and time of your visit. We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the Sites.
Information you provide. You may choose to give us information — for example, by submitting a contact or grievance form, making a payment, or signing in to an online portal. What you provide depends on the form or feature and may include your name, contact details, and the contents of your message or request.
Cookies and similar technologies. Our Sites use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Sites working, remember your preferences, and understand how the Sites are used. For website analytics we use Squarespace Analytics and/or Google Analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Sites function.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Sites;
- respond to your inquiries, forms, and requests, including grievances;
- process payments you choose to make through our third-party payment provider;
- understand and improve how visitors use the Sites; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell the personal information of Site visitors, and we do not display third-party advertising or use advertising networks on the Sites.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of service providers to operate the Sites. These include our website host (Squarespace) for www.abcreal.com, our payment processor (PayPal) for online payments, and embedded social media content (such as Facebook and Instagram) on www.abcreal.com, which may set their own cookies when displayed. These providers handle information either on our behalf or under their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review their policies.
We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the Sites, and otherwise only as required by law. PHI is shared only as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices and under written agreements where those are required.
Children's Privacy
ABC provides ABA services primarily to children, including children under 13. Information about a minor patient is provided to us by a parent or legal guardian and is handled as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, not under this policy. We do not direct advertising to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the Sites outside of the provider relationship. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Sites, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
Data Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy and as required by applicable law and our records-retention obligations.
Your California Privacy Rights
California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know, delete, and correct certain personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
Note that PHI governed by HIPAA, and medical information governed by California's Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA), are exempt from the CCPA; this section applies only to general website information that is not otherwise exempt. To exercise a right, contact us using the information below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date above.
